At SALT, health and safety are foundational to everything we do.
Guide Training: All of our guides hold current Pre-Hospital Emergency Care (PHEC) certification, ensuring they are equipped to handle emergency situations in remote environments.
Vehicle Safety: Our fleet vehicles are maintained to a high standard and carry valid Certificates of Fitness in accordance with New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) regulations.
Safety Management: We operate under a comprehensive Safety Management System that meets the requirements of AdventureMark, New Zealand’s outdoor safety audit standard.
Regulatory Compliance: We adhere to the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and follow WorkSafe New Zealand's guidelines for managing health and safety risks. Our operations comply with regulations set by the Department of Conservation (DOC), Land Information New Zealand (LINZ), and the Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC), ensuring responsible access to public lands and facilities.
Risk Management: Each experience is planned and delivered with real-time risk assessment, daily condition checks, and guide discretion to postpone, adjust, or cancel if safety could be compromised.
If you have specific accessibility or medical needs, please let us know in advance—we will always do our best to accommodate.
